What are the quality inspection items of rollers?

The quality inspection items of the rollers are helpful to verify the product quality and confirm whether the rollers meet the technical requirements. At the same time, quality inspection of rollers is also an effective method to prevent problems during the production process.

1.Basic size measurement
In the basic dimensional measurement of rollers, commonly used measuring instruments include vernier calipers, micrometers, ultrasonic thickness gauges, etc., which are used to measure the outer diameter, inner hole, depth and other data of the roller.
2. Geometric tolerance measurement
The control of geometric tolerance is a more important evaluation criterion to ensure the quality of rollers. Cylindricity, circular runout, linearity, concentricity, straightness, etc. are all multi-dimensional geometric tolerance evaluation indicators.
3. Hardness measurement
In some scenarios, the roller surface needs to be hardened such as quenching. Commonly used evaluations are Rockwell hardness, Brinell hardness, etc. There are also strict hardness requirements for rubber rollers, but the hardness evaluation indicators of the two are different. The rubber hardness is mostly marked and measured using Shore hardness.
4. Surface roughness measurement
The surface roughness of the roller is a micro-geometric error and refers to surface unevenness. Generally, the higher the roughness, the more uneven the roller surface is. The surface roughness of the roller has a certain impact on its fatigue strength, aesthetics, wear resistance, etc.
5.Flaw detection
During the assembly process of the roller shaft head, welding is often used. Flaw detection can measure the surface of the roller such as PT flaw detection or ultrasonic and magnetic particle flaw detection to evaluate whether there are weld cracks or damage in the internal structure to ensure the reliability of the welding.
6. Dynamic balancing of rollers
If the roller is used in high-speed rotating equipment, balance testing is very important. If there are problems in the dynamic balance, it will aggravate the wear of the roller during operation and affect the effective working time.
